Permits - Building and Construction

The Village has contracted all building, rental inspections, and zoning administrative services with Construction Code Authority (CCA).  New submissions for zoning and building permits will be handled directly through CCA. Applications can also be submitted electronically.  Lastly, as an alternate payment option, CCA does accept credit card payments, but does charge an additional 3.5% of the total permit fee.

To schedule an inspection you may leave a voice mail on CCA's 24-hour answering machine at (810) 664-0981 or contact the office directly at (810) 667-0420.

The inspection will be scheduled for either the current or the next inspection day.

Request for Land Division

Submit the Land Division pdf form to the Village of Almont, with a $35.00 check made payable to Almont Township. If you have any questions regarding this form, please contact the Township Assessor, Tom Valentine at (810)-798-8521.

Right of Way Permit

If you are doing work in the Villages Right of Way (ROW) a permit is necessary. No person, firm, or corporation shall dig or tear up any pavement, sidewalk or crosswalk, or dig any hole, ditch, drain or sewer, in any street, alley or public property, without first obtaining a permit from the Village.

“A Right of Way (ROW) is land controlled by public agencies that includes streets, alleys, public sidewalks, curbs, and the berm/green area, which is the area between the curb and sidewalk. The Village Department of Public Works manages the work within the Village’s Right of Way.”

Please fill out the ROW Permit and submit with the application fee and $2000.00 Surety Bond. Applications will not be processed if they are not filled out entirely and include the fee and bond.

The permit is not valid until the DPW Supervisor approves the permit and we notify you that your permit is valid
